thursday night, we went to global connections, which was awesome. i loved seeing my former students and their parents. they are so kind, supportive, and complimentary. i really felt great after getting to see them. i doubt i'll ever have students quite like that again. it was somewhat bittersweet, but i am blessed to have been their teacher for a while.
then friday, school was pretty much school, paige showed me where the bulletin board paper was, and we worked on my boards and a little reorganizing of my room. there are only two days of school this coming week, monday i'll be giving a quiz, and tuesday they'll be reading a little story about thanksgiving (look i'm being festive, be proud), and then we'll have several days off! sort of... andrew and i will be cooking thanksgiving dinner for my parents on thursday, and then friday and saturday i'll be working at oberlin again, so i'll actually only have wednesday and sunday off, but it'll be a change of pace, and that's fun. then i think there's another 3 weeks of school followed by winter track-out. i'm excited about track-out!!!
friday night, andrew and i went out alone together to the grape. it was good to be out just the two of us. i always tend to want to have group outings and friends join us, i think mostly because in boone it was so much just andrew and me, but it was great to enjoy one another's company. we called it an early night and got up saturday morning to go see the raleigh christmas parade downtown. it was paige's idea because her brother is in east wake high school's marching band, and we all decided to walk from our house down to the parade. i decided it'd be good to take lillie with us to practice being on the leash and experience a large crowd. she really did a good job, and i was very proud of her. she didn't like the "aoooogah" of the old cars, the loud drumlines, the backfiring of the giant shopping cart, the grumbling of the harleys, or the loud crack of the renaissance whip (that was the scariest to her), but she did well nonetheless.
after the parade and lunch (and an unsuccessful shopping trip), we got ready and headed out to rachel and lyle's wedding. it was very nice, though my heels did sink into the ground outside, and i almost fell backwards onto some old lady! the cocktail hour had nice music and wine, and the main course was quite enjoyable. we all (andrew, me, ate, drank, and danced for hours. around 9, the happy couple made their exit through some terrifying sparklers, and we all decided to continue the fun. robby, kenny, donny, chicken, andrew, me, and jackie (who met us after work) went out to o'malley's on glenwood. after that, chicken, andrew, and i went back to jackie's to hang out for a little before we fell into bed around 3am.
today i've been nursing a headache, and we've done pretty much nothing, but that's ok. we're off to josh's digital thanksgiving in a few mins, so i have to go get ready!
