feelin' yucky

well, we didn't go over to my parents' house for thanksgiving to avoid getting sick... and somehow i got sick anyway. it was like empathy sickness or something. we ended up going to jessi's dad's house again for the 2nd year in a row for andrew and me, and 3rd or 4th year for just me. there's always a lot of tasty food there, and it's fun to be with one of my additional families during the holidays. i helped make the mashed potatoes, and andrew learned how to make gravy out of a roux. i had planned on taking a picture of everyone while we were there and all dressed up, but i forgot, and i just have this one from me in the car being a goofball. this year the crowd at jessi's was andrew, me, jess, norm, mark, his new girlfriend helen, and amanda and curtis. it was cool to be part of one of the two married couples there, and i believe before next thanksgiving, amanda and curtis will be a third.

after the thanksgiving meal, i was starting to feel a little ill, and we went to bed early in preparation for my work at the vet in the morning. working on friday was much like getting back on a horse (or bike, whatever the saying is) in that most of it came right back to me. i worked as the floater and actually got to take appointments and stuff instead of just working up front. that made me happy. i had two black great danes in one day, and that was double the fun - i love danes! i started feeling crappier and crappier as the day wore on, and by the time i got home (relatively early), i felt so yucky i just fell straight to sleep on the couch - even after taking DAYquil! i'm sure it helped that lillie was a great heating blanket and quite possibly the best snuggler in the world.this morning, i worked at oberlin again, and it was quite possibly the slowest day ever - although i wouldn't know because i worked animal care for most of the morning running doggie day camp. it wasn't too bad, the dogs were well behaved, and it was a cold but pretty day outside. unfortunately, i missed seeing sasha, my hospitalized dane, go home :-( but at least she went home healthy! when i came home around 1:30, i felt so yucky, i could hardly eat lunch (but don't worry, i did) and promptly fell asleep on the couch while andrew went boot-shopping. after my nap, we had dinner with byron, and now i have one day and a mountain of work to do before school on monday! eek!

That's a beautiful picture of you and Lillie. I'm so glad you have such a snuggly doggie. Will bring you soup and food tomorrow.
