because the giant bed calls for a different room orientation, it was a good excuse to have to finish cleaning and putting away clothes in our bedroom. we spent a LONG time doing this, and now the room is much more organized and livable. unfortunately, the office still needs work, and now we have our old mattress and box-springs leaning on the wall in our bedroom for lack of a better place to put them. see, we're convinced (or at least i am) that whenever we buy a house, we're going to have a guest bedroom, and since there's no real problem with my old bed, it's just too small for two people, i don't want to get rid of it! i also hesitate to put it in my parents' storage area because it's not exactly weather or bug safe, and i don't want the mattress getting ruined. we toyed for a little with the idea of putting it in our "office", but after measuring a few things, it would be really really cramped, and not really all that useful. so we have left it leaning on the wall... i'm just waiting for it to fall and crush us in our sleep.
other than that, we sat around a lot, watched the "old faithful" runners travel down mordecai for a few minutes, i cut andrew's hair (finally), and then we went out to the grape with jackie and dave. our waiter was interesting. he didn't remember us at all from a few weeks ago, and until other tables left was ridiculously slow with bringing wine to the table. for a wine bar... this seems like a problem. but what do i know? the food was pretty good, and we all chose nice wines. my first order of "the grape crape" which would have been duck, was no longer on the menu (even though it was on the menu), so i got the lamb chops. they were an excellent second choice minus the interesting garnish that came on top. we don't know what happened, but there was a twig of pine needles on top of the chops, and when he brought it out to the table, the pine needles were on fire. i thought this was strange but tried to play it off and be discreet until the table next to us started cracking up and actually couldn't stop laughing about how my plate was "a flaming christmas tree" (in their words). i'm guessing it got to close to the heat lamp? who knows. jackie's food was also awesome, some brie, jam/dried fruit, puff pastry thing, and we had good wine all night, so i was pleased despite the little imperfections. maybe i just like wine hahaha.
to finish the sunday night dinner tradition, jackie, andrew, and i came back to watch a movie, and that is of course where the bed took its toll! now i have reading and planning to do for the rest of the day! but hey, at least it's monday, and i have the day off - yay veterans.
