today was tuesday that was like a friday at school. i was glad to be ending a grammar unit and moving on to a break. i'm exhausted and have had trouble waking up daily for a few weeks now. i think i really need to get a lot of sleep and rest, as well as some physical activity during my time off to get back in the groove. unfortunately, with all the planning and grading i have to do, as well as working at the vet and doing the thanksgiving thing, i will pretty much just have part of sunday. oh well, it's better than nothing!
the only exciting thing that happened really was that we had a "thanksgiving feast" thrown by the parents. (sometimes i wonder what they're more interested in, their children learning or having a social hour) i sort of enjoyed myself, but i didn't know most of the parents well, and the students don't really eat lunch and chat with me like they have in years past (probably because i'm new), so i was sitting all alone feeling a bit left out. it was going ok despite that until a child from a different lunch group ignored the giant "YOU MUST ASK PERMISSION BEFORE USING THE MICROWAVE" sign, and he, for the second time this year, sent something on fire and caused the administration to come down and make sure we weren't burning down the building. i was so angry and embarrassed. it smelled like burnt popcorn for the rest of the day. after the students left, unplugged and put away the microwaves. they will have to deal with cold lunches until they're mature enough to use the microwave properly -- or at the very least, read the giant sign. i do feel bad though because the kid who burned the cookie won't even be in my class for lunch, but i feel like i have to make a point that using the microwave is a privilege, and that they need to abide by the rules of the classroom.
now i want to go out and do something fun, but andrew and i are both tired, so we'll probably end up doing nothing for the rest of the night. bummer.
::EDIT:: now it looks like we aren't cooking for my parents... bigger bummer.

I hope you know that my only motivation was to give you more time to yourself to rest and the option of not being exposed to cold germs. I think it's a bummer too : (
