playing catch-up!

well, it's been a while, but i am trying to keep up with things!

let's see... friday night andrew and i went out to nofo for dinner, where the appetizers were good, drinks were moderate, and while andrew's food was good, mine was gross... the people were nice though and decor eclectic, and it was nice to go out to celebrate making it through a week at the new job. i was really stressed with work, and i needed some time out. we hoped to meet up with jackie, byron, and jackie's friend afterwards at blue martini but got sleepy and left before they got out of their play. it was ok though, we had a good time anyway - i love my hubby :-)

this weekend was our housewarming "party" - i say "party" because it was quite meagerly attended in numbers, however i doubt i could have asked for a better collection of people. the attendees included the lovely jackie willse and handsome byron jennings, as well as my parents. we invited a lot of other people, but they didn't come. we had TONS of food, and if possible, more alcohol than food. along with different kinds of fresh fruit, gourmet cheeses, fresh rosemary/olive oil bread, water crackers, and blue cheese hand stuffed (by me) olives, andrew made chicken parmesan with whole wheat spaghetti, broccoli, and my mom brought a salad. the boys loved andrew's vidalia onion dressing, while jackie and i preferred the cabernet dressing (both c/o the biltmore and our honeymoon). additionally, we had mixed drinks, wine, beer available - though no one drank any, and coconut cake for dessert (that even the non-coconut lovers liked). i wanted to take pictures, but i kept getting distracted by food, alcohol, and guests... just as it should be!

on sunday, andrew and i went to church at vintage21, which has recently relocated from the oberlin rd location to a location even closer to us on west st downtown. along with being a freaking awesome church, they also participate in first fridays, so you should check out the website. previously when i went to vintage21, i enjoyed it mildly but didn't really think it was the place for me. also, i was not in love with the music, and music is important to me in a worship service. this time, however, i felt like the sermon was written just for me, and the song selection and delivery was awesome. we'll definitely go back. plus, they conveniently have 3 sunday services, one around 9, one at 11:30, and one at 6pm - very convenient for us. afterwards, andrew and i went furniture shopping and found a bedroom suite we'll probably buy (for those of you who don't know, we really have no bedroom furniture. currently our bed is on the floor and we have no dresser. this is the manufacturer's picture of the bed for our suite: the decision of whether or not to get a king sized bed took us to jackie's dormia store, where we decided we'd just go all out and get the king. i am EXCITED about that.

sunday evening, andrew went to another interview while i planned lessons for this week's classes. i was planning on teaching the giver beginning next week, but i found out today in the teacher's lounge (where i go during my planning period since there's a class in my room) that "you know 7th graders do that book, yeah they love reading it" meaning i "can't" do the book, cause heaven forbid the 7th grade teacher have to do something different next year. so now i have nothing to do next week and no idea what book to have them read... just when i was getting my unit together. grr. but on a happier note, things are going better than last week, and the math teacher, paige, and i were accidental twins today![mrs. korhonen and mrs. richardson being twins!]

i don't know what the plan is for tonight, but andrew and i have decided to limit ourselves to one or two meals out a week so that we can put some money away for a house, and i think tonight might be one of our nights!
