school is going ok, i'm terrified about trying to cover the year-long curriculum in 1 quarter (since the previous teacher covered very little, and this quarter's half over... and since eog's are at the end of 3rd quarter instead of the end of the year for us... and the kids are like 4 grade-levels behind.
i have no idea how to teach 2nd grade material, and that's frustrating for me. i'm qualified for 9-12 and certified for 6-12, so the 2nd grade curriculum and how to teach it is just not something i have experience, education, or even familiarity with, and since learning is cumulative i HAVE to teach it to even get to this year's material.so anyway, i'm buying up every "how to get students to pass the eog's" book in the teacher stores! speaking of which, i went to stone's, a teacher store, today and bought practically every language arts bulletin board they had. i am a total sellout! (but i had a great time being one) the only exciting thing i have coming up this week is global connections tomorrow night at smith. i'm very excited to experience it again, see former colleagues, and meet up with old students :-) oh yeah, and rachel and lyle's wedding is saturday, but i'm not sure what to wear.
that was an ADD post.

For a minute I thought I'd post a comment saying that I'd like to go to the global connections too (one of my coworkers mentioned it yesterday; her kids are at Smith)- but then I realized it might not be a good idea to be around all those kids (germs) or eat that out in the open food since I had my chemo today. Oh well, next time! Hope you enjoy it : )
i was going to invite you until i thought the same thing - stupid germs!
